Dimer instruments is improving scientific analysis for bio-pharmaceutical scientists and lab technicians

The Problem

Analysis flow for Dimer Instruments' software is inundated with complex interactions, repeated screens and layout issues, leading to lost time and confusion among the target users.

The Research

User interviews and secondary competitor research helped understand the pain points for both target user groups, bio-pharmaceutical scientists operating on a detail basis compared to lab technicians that prioritized speed.

The Solution

Collaborating with the team, I designed a designed a better importing and analysis flow, and added components to the internally used design system focusing on speeding up and automating functionality, while serving needs of both target user groups.

Final designs showcasing more readable layouts for measurements

Learning

Designing a product for both lab technicians and biopharma scientists taught me the importance of creating an interface that balances simplicity and depth. By focusing on glanceable information and accessible paths for common tasks, I learned how to craft a user experience that serves multiple user groups effectively. The key challenge was making each screen intuitive while still providing options for in-depth exploration.
